Foliar Application of Carnosine and Chitosan Improving Drought Tolerance in Bermudagrass

چکیده

Drought stress is one of the crucial factors affecting plant growth and development in turfgrass species, especially during summer season. Exogenous regulators are an effective convenient approach to mitigating adverse effects drought on growth. The objectives this study were reveal exogenous carnosine or chitosan turf performance physiological indexes bermudagrass (Cynodon transvaalensis × C. dactylon) response stress. Bermudagrass was foliar sprayed with chitosan, dose-dependent quality observed under Under stress, application either (0.03%) (10 mg L−1) significantly increased quality, chlorophyll content, leaf relative water decreased electrolyte leakage, malonaldehyde, hydrogen peroxide content comparison untreated control bermudagrass. Moreover, treatment enhanced activities both catalase peroxidase, but only activity. results experiment beneficial new would provide helpful insights for management drought-stressed conditions.

Stop #1: Improvement of Bermudagrass, Kikuyugrass, and Zoysiagrass for Winter Color Retention and Drought Tolerance

California is suffering from a serious drought and the future of turfgrass and other landscape plants has never been more uncertain. Use of drought tolerant plant species should be at the forefront of water conservation management plans for golf courses and other landscapes. Warm-season or C4 grasses are better adapted to warmer, drier climates and use at least 20% less water compared to cool-s...

Analysis of Natural Variation in Bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon) Reveals Physiological Responses Underlying Drought Tolerance

Bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon) is a widely used warm-season turfgrass and one of the most drought tolerant species. Dissecting the natural variation in drought tolerance and physiological responses will bring us powerful basis and novel insight for plant breeding. In the present study, we evaluated the natural variation of drought tolerance among nine bermudagrass varieties by measuring physio...

The effect of foliar and soil application of chitosan nanoparticles on chlorophyll, photosynthesis, yield and yield components of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) under drought stress after pollination

To evaluate the effect of chitosan NPs on wheat under late season drought stress, a factorial experiment was performed based on a randomized complete block design in three replications in pot conditions at Tarbiat Modares University in 2015. The experimental factors included the NPs concentrations (0, 30, 60 and 90 mg.L-1), application methods (foliar and soil application) and irrigation regime...

Silicon Application Increases Drought Tolerance of Kentucky Bluegrass by Improving Plant Water Relations and Morphophysiological Functions

Drought stress encumbers the growth of turfgrass principally by disrupting the plant-water relations and physiological functions. The present study was carried out to appraise the role of silicon (Si) in improving the drought tolerance in Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis L.). Drought stress and four levels (0, 200, 400, and 800 mg L(-1)) of Si (Na2SiO3·9H2O) were imposed after 2 months old pla...
